Physiotherapy & clinical pilates · Mackay

Unhurried care for bodies that work hard.

Hands-on physiotherapy for sore backs, stubborn shoulders and the knee that's been "fine" since footy season — then small-group clinical pilates, run by the same physio who assessed you.

A physiotherapist in a bright, window-lit room guides a patient's outstretched arm while checking her shoulder blade.

What we treat

Most of what walks through the door is ordinary — and that's exactly what we're good at.

Not sure we can help? Ring and ask — no charge for the chat.
  1. 01

    Back & neck pain

Desk-bound, cane-farm sore or woke-up-wrong. We find what's driving it, settle it down, then give you three or four exercises you'll actually do.

  2. 02

    Sport & running injuries

Rolled ankles, hamstrings, runner's knee. Clear return-to-sport plans with real milestones, not guesswork.

  3. 03

    After surgery

Knee and hip replacements, ACL and shoulder repairs. We work to your surgeon's protocol and keep them in the loop.

  4. 04

    Pregnancy & postnatal

Pelvic girdle pain, returning to exercise after bub, and pilates classes designed for every trimester.

  5. 05

    Work injuries

WorkCover Queensland claims handled with the paperwork done properly, so you can focus on getting back on the job.

  6. 06

    Balance & healthy ageing

Steadier on your feet, stronger on the stairs. Gentle, progressive programs for over-60s, with a cuppa after class.

Where does it hurt?

Choose an area to see how we'd usually help.

Your first session always starts with a proper look at the whole picture — a sore knee is often about the hip or the foot.

A physiotherapist gently tilts a patient's head back with her fingertips under his jaw.

Neck

Stiff necks, tension headaches and that pinch when you shoulder-check in the car. Gentle mobilisation and soft-tissue work, then posture changes that fit how you really sit.

Often feels easier within 2–4 sessions

A physiotherapist supports a patient's crossed arms while assessing his shoulder movement.

Shoulder

Rotator cuff strains, frozen shoulder and post-surgery rehab. We test strength and range carefully, then build it back with load you can feel working.

Home program with video demos

A physiotherapist places both hands on a standing patient's lower back to assess it.

Back

Lower back pain is our bread and butter. Hands-on treatment to calm it down, honest reassurance, and clinical pilates to make the next flare-up less likely.

Pairs well with our Strong Backs class

A physiotherapist lifts and stretches a patient's straightened leg as he lies on a treatment table.

Hip

Hip and groin pain, glute tendon issues and pregnancy-related pelvic pain. Targeted strength work and practical tips for sleeping, sitting and stairs.

Pre- and post-op hip replacement care

A physiotherapist bends a patient's knee and supports his foot to test the joint.

Knee

Runner's knee, ligament sprains, meniscus niggles and arthritis. We look at how your hip and foot load the knee, not just the knee itself.

Return-to-run plans included

A physiotherapist works on the sole of a patient's foot and ankle.

Ankle

Rolled ankles, Achilles soreness and plantar heel pain. Taping for game day, balance retraining and a clear path back to netball, touch or the beach walk.

Same-week appointments for fresh sprains

Sunrise over the ocean, seen through beach grasses on the Queensland coast.

Built for Mackay life.

Mine rosters, cane-season backs, weekend touch footy and sunrise walks along the harbour. We plan your rehab around the way you actually live — and the early starts that come with it.

Clinical pilates

Small classes. Physio-led, every time.

Every class is run by a physiotherapist and capped at six people, on reformers or the mat. Before your first class you'll have a 45-minute pilates assessment so we can pitch every exercise to your body — and change it on the day if something's flaring.

  • Max 6 per class
  • Physio-led
  • Rebates may apply under extras

Three physios. No conveyor belt.

You'll see the same physio from your first visit to your last, and they'll know your history without reading it off a screen.

Twelve years in private practice, mostly spines and runners. Opened Tidewater in 2019 after too many clinics where appointments felt like a stopwatch.

Questions

Good questions, straight answers.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No. Physiotherapists are first-contact practitioners in Australia, so you can book directly. You'll only need a GP referral for Medicare chronic condition plans, DVA or some insurance claims.

What should I wear to my first appointment?

Something comfortable you can move in. If it's your knee or hip, bring shorts; if it's your shoulder or back, a singlet helps. We have change rooms and towels.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on the problem and your goals, so we'll give you an honest estimate at the end of your first visit. Plenty of people need three or four; we'll never book you in "just because".

Can I claim pilates on my health fund?

Many extras policies cover physio-led clinical pilates, usually under physiotherapy. Rebates vary by fund and cover level, so check with your fund using the item details we give you.

Is there parking?

Yes — free off-street parking out the back, plus a ramp and a ground-floor treatment room for anyone who'd rather skip the stairs.

What's your cancellation policy?

Give us 24 hours' notice and there's no charge. Late cancellations are charged at half the fee, unless you're unwell — we'd rather you stayed home.
